SIMON SCHADLER / DESIGN INTERN

Simon Schadler is a designer with a fascination for interdisciplinary design and is passionate about breaking the borders on what it means to be a designer. Simon has a unique ability to pick up, utilize, and navigate design technology quickly and efficiently to create visualizations and custom design approaches.  Aside from being the resident BIM master and custom 3D modeler, he uses his experience in industrial design to influence his chandelier and light fixture designs. His general design approach is informed by the philosophical influence of music, nature, and use of light and shadow to create life and movement in a space.

Simon is currently finishing up his Architectural Engineering degree at the University of Cincinnati, focusing on an Architectural Design path. He has previously worked as an industrial / casework designer for Hamilton Casework Solutions in Ohio and as a lighting designer at Buro Happold working on various scales of work.

ILO TARRANT / DESIGNER

Ilo Tarrant is a designer with a keen interest in creating spaces for people. She classifies herself as an empathetic designer, with the ability to put herself in the shoes of an occupant and create thoughtfully designed spaces. She has a historical connection to design coming from a family of artisans and craftspeople, and her foray into lighting design seemed both accidental and inevitable.

“I originally fell in love with lighting by accident, when I was roped into designing the lighting for a friend's play in Dublin…and, well… the rest is history! Over the years I've worked across varying scales of live performance, theater, music and exhibitions. I studied lighting design in Copenhagen before moving to New York in 2017 where I’ve worked with large lighting design firms. I’m excited to be joining The SEED and creating with fellow international, multidisciplinary ladies of lighting!”

Ilo’s honesty, intuition and eagerness to dig into the unknown is so important to a studio that is constantly adapting and evolving. Her spirit and resilience is at the core of The SEED and we are so excited to create with her. Outside of the studio, Ilo likes to enjoy a variety of interests such as music, art, comedy and getting out of the city to experience nature!
