THE WINDOW TO THE SKY

The SEED took an unconventional approach to the skylight design at Millennia Residential Complex in New Rochelle NY. Our goal was to seamlessly integrate lighting into the architecture of the skylights and create a permanent luminous installation that would function in the absence of daylight. Suspended beaded-chains reflect both daylight and electric light (from an intricate array of linear LED grazers mounted at the skylight’s perimeter), resulting in a dramatic and fleeting, three dimensional effect.
